I want to thank the staff at K2M for being patient and supportive with Gabrielle and me as we learned how to use the testing equipment. From technical writing skills to laboratory skills, I truly appreciate the time and effort my coworkers at K2M have spent preparing me for a future in engineering. I think this placement has helped me to better manage my time, work with others, and to feel comfortable asking for help – skills needed both in college and in the world of work. My placement at Austin-Weston Center for Cosmetic Surgery has really shown me all aspects of medicine. The reason I chose to work at a surgery center was to see if the medical field is right for me. By watching the different procedures, I know now that I really love surgery and cannot wait to start practicing in the future!

This whole experience has been truly incredible and meaningful for multiple reasons. First of all, I interacted with some of the nicest and most considerate people I will ever meet. All of the therapists were extremely caring, doing everything they could to make the lives of their patients even just the slightest bit more comfortable, and I noticed that these patients felt sincerely thankful for all the help they received. Two: I saw progress. I witnessed the transformation of patients who were coming in for the first time for serious injuries or excruciating aches and pains and watched them become fully restored by these therapists in a matter of weeks. Three: I felt appreciated. No matter what the task- big or small- everyone in my office thanked me multiple times, even when I felt that thanks were not needed. Finally, and most importantly, I was inspired. I realized that this is definitely the type of work environment that I want to find myself in when I eventually decide on my future career. I cannot express how truly grateful I am to Bodies in Motion for helping guide me and for giving me such a valuable experience that I won‘t ever forget.

My experience at Physiotherapy Associates, an outpatient rehabilitation center, has prepared me for the future in that I have become more confident talking to people of all different ages while being mindful and respectful of their backgrounds and experiences. I have developed a new understanding and appreciation that everyone is different and one cannot make assumptions about another if they don‘t know them. I gained a wealth of knowledge through my senior year placement, learning many aspects of structural engineering: from analyzing a beam to roofing a house to designing a retaining wall. This experience has prepared me for working in an office and studying engineering. Thank you to the whole office for the advice you’ve given, lunches at the chicken place, and for sharing your field and experiences with me. I enjoyed my experience immensely.
